M r11111P0: : A n` <br /> Centerville residents were asked a short series of questions about public safety issues. First, <br /> unsafe areas in the community were examined. Neighborhood police patrolling and traffic <br /> enforcement were discussed. Contact with the Centennial Lakes Police Department was talked <br /> about, followed by the identification of crime victims and their experiences. Finally, the greatest <br /> public safety concerns facing Centerville were posted. <br /> Areas Not Felt to be Safe <br /> Residents were queried: <br /> Are there areas in the City of Centerville where you do <br /> not feel safe? <br /> Only eight percent report there are areas in the City of Centerville where they do not feel safe: <br /> YES <br /> NO 91% <br /> DON'T KNOW/REFUSED 0% <br /> "No" is indicated more often by: <br /> • men <br /> • those rating the sense of community identity positively <br /> • city newsletter readers <br /> Residents indicating an area of concern were then asked: <br /> In which areas do you not feel safe? <br /> The majority point to the "parks," "bars," and "apartments :" <br /> EVERYWHERE 5% <br /> PARKS 38% <br /> TRAILER PARK 5% <br /> TRAILS 5% <br /> BARS 19% <br /> APARTMENTS 10% <br /> SCHOOLS 5% <br /> SCATTERED 14% <br /> They are no statistically significant sub -group differences. <br /> 30 <br /> 63 <br />
