City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />June 11, 2012 <br />Motion by Council Member Love, seconded by Council Member Fehrenbacher, to <br />approve the “Amendment to the Refuse and Recycling Service Agreement” which <br />will extend the current agreement through 2017 as presented. All in favor. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> <br />VIII. NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />1. Res. #12-015 – Closing Fund #453 – Downtown Storm Water <br /> <br />The Mayor reviewed the Resolution with Council. <br /> <br />Administrator Larson stated that this fund contained expenditures associated with the <br />Downtown redevelopment, watermain grant funds and stormwater irrigation projects and <br />staff has determined that the fund is no longer needed due to projects being complete and <br />the lack of possible redevelopment of the downtown area in the near future. Discussion <br />ensued regarding the costs associated with the 2008 environmental study, its usage for the <br />watermain grant and the economic downturn as reasons for the $41,691.80 being written <br />off. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Love, seconded by Council Member Paar, to approve <br />Res. #12-015 – Closing Fund #453 – Downtown Storm Water as presented. All in <br />favor. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br /> <br />2. Res. #12-016 – Appointing Election Judges <br /> <br />Administrator Larson stated that this is an election requirement and routine to appoint <br />individuals that have been trained and are knowledgeable of the workings of an election. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Fehrenbacher, seconded by Council Member King, to <br />approve Res. #12-016 – Appointing Election Judges as presented. All in favor. <br />Motion passed unanimously. <br /> <br />3. Planning & Zoning Commission Recommendation to Approve a Variance <br />Request to Allow Construction of a Single-Story, 22’ High Building in the M-1 <br />District, Paul Steffel Properties, LLC <br /> <br />Administrator Larson reported that the Planning & Zoning Commission held a public <br />hearing regarding the matter and the concern is the height of the proposed building being <br />less that the required height within the M-1 Zoning District. Administrator Larson <br />reported that the Planning and Zoning Commission forwarded Findings and <br />Recommendation in favor of approval to Council. Lengthy discussion ensued regarding <br />the downtown redevelopment plan, economic downturn, the need to revisit the <br />Page 3 of 5 <br /> <br />
