RES. #13 -0 <br /> A RESOLUTION DECLARING COST TO BE ASSESSED AND ORDERING <br /> PREPARATION OF PROPOSED ASSESSMENT AND CALLING FOR A <br /> PUBLIC HEARING ON 2013 STREET IMPROVEMENTS <br /> WHEREAS, bids have been received, and costs have been determined for the improvement of <br /> 1. Center Street from Dupre Road to 20`" Avenue, Sumac Court and Ivy Court by, reconstruction <br /> of base and street pavement, curb, storm sewer and related drainage improvements, and <br /> construction of utilities in advance of paving, and <br /> 2. Peterson Trail from Main Street to Fox Run, Fox Run from Peterson Trail westerly to its <br /> terminus in the cul -de -sac, Hayfield Road from Peterson Trail to Mill Road and all of Houle <br /> Circle, by removal and replacement of asphalt pavement and related drainage improvements, <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the bid price for the improvement is $1,161,550 and the expenses to be incurred in the <br /> making of such improvement amount to $348,465 so that the total cost of the improvement will be <br /> $1,510,015. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF CENTERVILLE, <br /> MINNESOTA: <br /> 1. The portion of the cost of such improvement to be paid by the City is hereby declared to be <br /> $1,207,877 and the portion to be assessed against benefiting properties is declared to be $302,138. <br /> 2. The City Administrator, with the assistance of the consulting engineer shall forthwith calculate the <br /> proper amount to be specially assessed for such improvement against every assessable lot, piece or <br /> parcel of land within the district affected, without regard to cash valuation, as provided by law and <br /> in accordance with the adopted assessment policy of the City, and he shall file a copy of such <br /> proposed assessment in his office for public inspection. <br /> 3. A hearing shall be held on the 27` day of March, 2013, at City Hall, at 6:30 p.m. to pass upon the <br /> proposed assessment and at such time place all persons owning property affected by such <br /> improvement will be given an opportunity to be heard with reference to such assessment. <br /> 4. The City Administrator is hereby directed to cause a notice of the hearing on the proposed <br /> assessment to be published once in the official newspaper at least two weeks prior to the hearing <br /> and he shall state in the notice the total cost of the improvement. He shall also cause mailed notice <br /> to be given to the owner of each parcel described in the assessment roll not less than two weeks <br /> prior to the hearing. <br /> Adopted by the Council this 27` day of February, 2013. <br /> Tom Wilharber, Mayor <br /> Attest: <br /> Teresa Bender, City Clerk <br />
