This note is a follow -up to your meeting last Tuesday.
Parks and Rec sponsors a Music in the Parks program Tuesday nights during the summer. Tom Lee coordinates
this program for the Committee. As a highlight of that program, last summer at Fete de Lacs we held a music
Jamboree. Last year we had our first Jamboree early Friday evening before the Lions paid band came on. The
Jamboree participants are not paid. However, most of them are professionals and they objected to being
essentially a warm up band to whoever the Lions selected as the featured band.
This year Parks and Rec wants the Jamboree to be the main feature of the evening.
We would like the Lions to run the Beer Tent like then have done in the past.
If Tom does the Jamboree. And the Lions run the Beer Tent. We all make out well. The Lions get the benefit of
the fund raiser without paying for a band. The Jamboree benefits because the Lions Beer Tent will attract an
audience for the Jamboree
Sounds to me like a good cooperate effort with all parties benefiting
Pat Branch
Sent from my iPad
Begin forwarded message:
From: Tom Lee < TomLee(&nol- tec.com
Date: March 22, 2013 8:29:00 AM CDT
To: Pat Branch < PBranch(a&CENTERVILLEMN.com >
Subject: Re: Fwd: scheduling music acts
I spoke with Greg of the Lions about a month ago, offering to host the entertainment portion for
the Festival's Friday night, but they were really on the fence about what they wanted to do, so
I've done nothing with that yet. I think they have another meeting coming up, I'll mention it
again, but if they want me to do that, I'll need to pretty soon.
I have 5 of the 8 slots confirmed for M.I.T.P., a couple of these acts are a little more expensive
than I'd like, but they are BIG groups (7 players) and they are M.I.T.P. veterans with local ties,
so...
1
