We do want to be good neighbors. We will revisit this issue at or next committee
meeting.
The Parks and Recreation Committee meets in the City Hall at 6:30 p.m. on the first Wednesday of the
month. If you would personally like to raise the issue with the committee, you are always welcome to do so. I
have placed this issue on the agenda and we will reconsider the placement of that portable toilet.
We are aware of the Buckhorn problem. As your note indicates, past efforts to remove the Buckhorn have not
been successful
Pat Branch
Sent from my iPad
On May 19, 2013, at 11:05 PM, "Amy Okan" < o(ci)hotmail.com wrote:
Dear Park & Rec Committee:
Please see the forwarded emails below about a porta potty issue at Eagle Park:
The previous location, which housed the porta potty for 13 years, is central to both the tennis
courts and the play area. Why has that location suddenly become an issue? It is not true that
the toilet has not been there the last 1 -2 years.
How is this a safety issue? There is actually more vandalism in that portion of the park than in
any other. Where it stands now it could be easily tipped over and leak into our property. It
blocks the view from the road to the play area causing an even greater probability of vandalism
and crime from the park. The last time the city was adamant about placing the porta potty in
this area I watched 2 teenagers nearly tip it over in the middle of a Saturday afternoon. The
only thing stopping them was a passerby.
Thirteen years ago we ran across this same problem. The city of Centerville put that porta
potty literally in our backyard. In doing so they killed trees and did other destruction to our
property. When we asked why we heard it was a vendor issue. I called 4 vendors again
today. Most, including Jimmy's Johns, have a 30 foot hose for their pumper trucks. I personally
went and measured 30 feet from the existing spot. The porta potty should be reachable by the
pumper truck without driving on the path. There is also another spot to the East that is well
within that range. The vendors also said that they pick up the porta potty when placing
them. Again, no truck is needed on the path. I see squad cars driving up that path. How does
that not do damage?
i
