CITY OF CENTERVILLE CITY COUNCIL MEETING December 11, 2013 6:30 p.m. Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City of Centerville held their regularly scheduled meeting of December 11, 2013, at City Hall, 1880 Main Street. PRESENT: Mayor Tom Wilharber Council Member Ben Fehrenbacher Council Member Steve King \J Council Member D. Love Council Member Jeff Paar ABSENT: None STAFF: City Administrator Dallas Larson City Engineer Mark Statz Legal Counsel Kurt Glaser Finance Director Ellen Paulseth I. CALL TO ORDER Mayor Wilharber called the meeting to order at 6:34 p.m. II. PUBLIC INPUT on 2014 Budget & Tax Levies Finance Director Paulseth briefly reviewed a presentation regarding the 2014 proposed budget and tax levy stating that the presentation is derived from the Council's preliminary 2014 Budget and Tax Levy approved in September. Finance Director Paulseth and Administrator Larson stated that the 2014 tax levy and budget are similar to levels back to 2007, Centerville's ranking is comparative to other cities of similar size for revenue and expenditures. Finance Director Paulseth stated that the City would be in receipt of Local Government Aid in 2014 of $54,000 and have the opportunity to take advantage of the new government sales tax exemptions. Administrator Larson reminded Council that in 2012 the City began budgeting for street maintenance and the bids received for the 2014 Mill & Overlay Street Project would determine whether special assessments would be needed. Larson also stated that the Local Government Aid and sales tax exemption made it possible to avoid an otherwise likely tax increase. The General levy has remained at essentially the same dollar amount since about 2007. There being no one present who wished to comment on the budget, Mayor Wilharber closed the Public Input at 6:51 p.m. III. APPROVAL OF AGENDA 1
