Teresa Bender
From: Pat Branch <p2branch@gmail.com>
Sent: Wednesday, April 23, 2014 4:02 AM
To: Teresa Bender,Jeff Paar
Subject: Fwd: Update
Teresa. Please include Tom Lee's note and put this on the May agenda.
Jeff, can I assume there will still be fireworks on the Friday of Fete des Lacs?
PatBranch
Sent from my iPad
Begin forwarded message:
From: "Tom Lee" <TomLee(a,nol-tec.com>
Date: April 22, 2014 5:30:09 PM EDT
To: "pat Branch" <p2branch(agmail.com>
Subject: Update
Hi Pat,
I hope this email finds you well. I wanted to give you an update on Music In The Parks and the
JAM.
THE GOOD
All contracts (except mine, go figure) have been signed and formally accepted by the city, so
Music In The Park season 6 in locked down, on budget, including the$350 that will go to the
Musicians Guild. My daughter will finish the flyers these next two weekends and I will begin
distributing early May. I will be doing several media blasts on a few social networks and web
pages I've been finding. I will also request a little help from our friend Deb Barnes to get the
word out, as well as talk to Teresa about the front sign.
I don't know if P&R has talked any further about getting a generic banner made, but that would
also be helpful in getting good turn outs.
THE BAD
After a long conversation with John Thill, I was informed that the Lions will NOT be doing a
street dance this year, just the soft ball tournament. They are focusing all of their energy on what
makes money. The street dance, has been a loser most years because of weather. (and way,
way over paying for talent)
THE UGLY
There will also be no Lions support for the JAM. Without their help, there is no stage, no
canopy, no power,no lighting, no seating or tables, no food or beer sales. When I pressed for
"something", Mr. Thill told me that if I held the JAM and was able to attract a decent crowd, the
Lions MIGHT be willing pull a keg or maybe even after the ball games, the beer trailer down to
the rink, but that'd have to be "worth their while". Otherwise the beer trailer and concession stand
will be up by the ball fields, closing when the games are over.
1
