RES. #14— <br /> A RESOLUTION APPOINTING ELECTIONS JUDGES FOR THE UPCOMING PRIMARY& <br /> GENERAL ELECTIONS (August 12, 2014 & November 4, 2014)AND DEPUTY MUNICIPAL CLERK <br /> FOR THE PURPOSE OF ACCEPTING AFFIDAVITS OF CANDIDACY, ISSUING ABSENTEE <br /> BALLOTS & ACCEPTING/REJECTING ABSENTEE BALLOTS AS PART OF THE ABSENTEE <br /> BALLOT BOARD <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Minnesota State Statute 204B.21, subd. 2,the City Council of the City of Centerville must select <br /> and appoint election judges for the upcoming Primary(August 12,2014)and General(November 4, 2014) elections; and <br /> WHEREAS,the City Clerk has advertised for individuals interested in serving in the capacity of election judge, contacted <br /> individuals provided by the County through lists from both the Republican and Democratic parties, utilized previously <br /> appointed judges or a combination of all to compile the list below of those that Council will consider appointing; and <br /> WHEREAS, all of the listed individuals are required to receive training either in the capacity of head judge (3 hours) or <br /> election judge (2 hours) as required by Minnesota State Statute 20413.25 and if any of the individuals listed below are not <br /> trained, the Election Administrator/Head Judge has the duty and responsibility to not allow that individual to serve in the <br /> capacity of head judge or election judge; and <br /> Marcia Bartels Janis Hackman Kris Sweeney(Alt. Head Judge) <br /> Shirley Sundquist(Head Judge) <br /> Mary Ann Thill Phyllis Trippel <br /> WHEREAS, it is proposed that the Council of the City of Centerville appoint Ms. Kris Sweeney as Deputy Municipal <br /> Clerk for the purpose of conducting all duties and the responsibilities of the Municipal Clerk relating to elections (Primary <br /> and General Elections 2014), Affidavits of Candidacy, Issuing, Accepting & Rejecting Absentee Ballots, and serving on <br /> the Ballot Board; and <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CENTERVILLE, <br /> MINNESOTA: <br /> 1. Authorizes the Election Administrator/Head Judge to deny an individual the opportunity to serve as a <br /> Head Judge or Election Judge due to failure to receive proper training per Minnesota State Statute <br /> 20413.25. <br /> 2. Appoints the above stated individuals for the primary and general elections to serve in the capacity of <br /> head judge or election judges if trained according to Minnesota State Statute 20413.25 with the <br /> assignments and schedule subject to the discretion of the City Clerk or designee. <br /> 3. Appoints Ms. Kris Sweeney as Deputy Municipal Clerk for the purposed of conducting the primary <br /> and general election for 2014 and all of its associated duties until November 10,2014. <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council this 25th day of June,2014. <br /> Attest <br /> City Clerk Mayor <br />
