The main reason they are prohibited in cul-de-sacs is that,in winter it is very difficult to get the snow plowed full width in the circle and due to the limited area to place snow. For example, a lot in a cul-de-sac could taper to as little as 45 feet wide at the curb and could have a driveway twenty-four feet wide, thus leaving less than half of the width on each lot to store the snow from a large circular cul-de-sac. If you place mail boxes in those very limited gaps, snow removal becomes even more problematic. The last two winters have demonstrated to us why the mailbox regulations are important. While mailboxes in most of the cul-de-sacs in Centerville have already been corrected we have a small number that have been overlooked. Your home is located in one of those. It is the City's plan to remove your mailbox from its existing location and move it to a grouping of five or six at the entrance to your cul-de-sac. A diagram of where it will be placed is enclosed. We anticipate this work will be done during the last week of August and the first two weeks of September. Before that,we would like you to verify that your box has your house number legibly imprinted on it. If it isn't,please make sure that is complete by the planned move date. If your mailbox is damaged and you would like to provide us with a new mailbox to install,we will be happy to accommodate that, if you let us know.
