City of Centerville <br /> Council Meeting Minutes <br /> January 14,2015 <br /> 5. Discussion Regarding Economic Development Authority/Committee <br /> Administrator Ericson suggested that this item and the next item be tabled until the Council is in <br /> full attendance. <br /> Administrator Ericson suggested that Council consider the future for economic growth for the <br /> community, the goals and job responsibilities for his position, background history of the City <br /> going from a Committee to an Economic Development Authority, direction for successfulness <br /> and business community involvement. Administrator Ericson stated that due to lack of <br /> involvement from the Council's current Bond Counsel he requested a proposal from Eckberg <br /> Lammers for Bond Counsel/Economic Development Representation services. Administrator <br /> Ericson stated that he has worked with the firm in the past and believes strongly that they can <br /> greatly assist the City in areas that Attorney Glaser is not versed in and provide economic <br /> development assistance. <br /> Motion by Council Member King, seconded by Council Member Love to table #5 <br /> Discussion Regarding Economic Development Authority/Committee to their next regularly <br /> scheduled meeting. All in favor. Motion passed. <br /> 6. Schedule Goal Setting Session <br /> Lengthy discussion ensued regarding how best to address the Committee/Commission's <br /> involvement, timing and procedures in the past. Consensus was that Council should meeting <br /> first, Committee/Commission's should set their goals for the upcoming year and then all should <br /> come together as in the past. <br /> Council Member King stated that Parks & Recreation would prefer to know the dollar amount <br /> that they will be receiving of the $15,000 that was placed in the 2015 Budget as this will guide <br /> their goals for 2015. <br /> Motion by Council Member Paar, seconded by Council Member Love to table Item #6 <br /> Schedule Goal Setting Session to their next regularly scheduled meeting All in favor. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> XI. COUNCIL & ADMINISTRATION ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> Administrator Ericson <br /> a. Century Link - Administrator Ericson stated that Century Link will soon be in <br /> competition with Comcast for providing the same services. <br /> b. Waste Management 2015 Rate Increase—Administrator Ericson stated that residents will <br /> be receiving a slight increase in waste/recycling rates; however, it is very standard, <br /> contained in their contract with the City and minimal. <br /> C. Metro Area Management Association Citizen Survey— Administrator Ericson explained <br /> that the information provided is only informational but highlighted that citizen believe the <br /> economy is slowly coming back and they are trusting governmental units more. <br /> Page 6 of 8 <br /> 6 <br />
