TO: Honorable Mayor& Council Members
FROM: Staff
SUBJECT: Amendments to the Personnel Policy
DATE: April 3, 2015
It has been extremely difficult to comply with the forty (40) hour maximum compensatory time
accumulation due to limited staffing levels, duties and responsibilities. So we have concluded
that we desire for Council to consider increasing this to eighty(80)hours.
The non-bargaining unit of employees would like the option to participate in a Health Care
Savings Plan with their unused PTO at termination and not be required to do so. We have
concluded that we desire for Council to also consider the inclusion of wording "if the qualifying
employee chooses this option"to the Unused PTO Leave Pay, C end of sentence.
It has proven to be time consuming to differentiate these benefits during payroll and it is felt that
all staff should be treated the same. We have concluded that we desire for Council to also
consider removing the language "EXCEPTION. New employees hired after December 31, 2011,
shall not be permitted to use employer contributions to contribute to items C or D" at the end of
the section for 11.2 Cafeteria Plan.
86
