PARKS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE <br /> Wednesday,May 6,2015—6:30 p.m. <br /> Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Parks & Recreation Committee of the City of <br /> Centerville held a scheduled meeting on May 6, 2015 at the City Hall location. <br /> Present: Chairperson Jon Grahek <br /> Vice Chairperson Kevin Waeghe <br /> Committee Member Kevin Amundsen <br /> Committee Member Chris Bettinger <br /> Committee Member Brian Peterson : <br /> Committee Member Suzanne Seeley ' <br /> Also Present: Council Member, Steve King <br /> Public Works Director, Paul Palzer <br /> Administrator Mike Ericson <br /> Linda Neudecker, Recording Secretary <br /> Absent: Committee Member Charles Reinhardt <br /> 1. CALL TO ORDER <br /> Chairperson Grahek called the May 6, 2015 Meeting of the Parks & Recreation Committee to <br /> order at 6:35 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. <br /> Roll Call—see above <br /> II. SET AGENDA <br /> Motion was made by Committee Member Seeley, seconded by Committee Member <br /> Amundsen to set the agenda with one addition: #10 under Updates—Bluebird Houses. All <br /> in favor. Motion carried. <br /> Ill. APPEARANCES—Ms. Robin Moore <br /> Ms. Moore appeared before the Parks & Recreation Committee regarding her concerns of <br /> the use of herbicides which can cause synthetic nitrogen and pesticides within the <br /> community and wanting to help raise awareness of the dangers of and long term <br /> consequences with continued use. Some of these pesticides include Round up and Scotts <br /> Turf Builder which use Glyphosate; and that there are studies that indicate a link with a <br /> higher rate of autism. She informed the Committee members about House Bill 221 <br /> sponsored by Lori Halvorson and several websites that provide information about <br /> Monsanto & GMOs. There was some discussion of various means of natural weed <br /> control. <br /> 1 <br />
