<br />PARKS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE <br />Wednesday, May 6, 2015 ~ 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Parks & Recreation Committee of the City of <br />Centerville held a scheduled meeting on May 6, 2015 at the City Hall location. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> Chairperson Jon Grahek <br />Vice Chairperson Kevin Waeghe <br /> <br />Committee Member Kevin Amundsen <br /> <br />Committee Member Chris Bettinger <br />Committee Member Brian Peterson <br />Committee Member Suzanne Seeley <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> Council Member, Steve King <br />Public Works Director, Paul Palzer <br /> <br />Administrator Mike Ericson <br />Linda Neudecker, Recording Secretary <br /> <br />Absent: <br />Committee Member Charles Reinhardt <br /> <br />I. CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br /> Chairperson Grahek called the May 6, 2015 Meeting of the Parks & Recreation Committee to <br />order at 6:35 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. <br /> <br /> Roll Call – see above <br /> <br /> <br />II. SET AGENDA <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Committee Member Seeley, seconded by Committee Member <br />Amundsen to set the agenda with one addition: #10 under Updates ~ Bluebird Houses. All <br /> <br />in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />III. APPEARANCES ~ Ms. Robin Moore <br /> <br /> Ms. Moore appeared before the Parks & Recreation Committee regarding her concerns of <br />the use of herbicides which can cause synthetic nitrogen and pesticides within the <br />community and wanting to help raise awareness of the dangers of and long term <br />consequences with continued use. Some of these pesticides include Round up and Scotts <br />Turf Builder which use Glyphosate; and that there are studies that indicate a link with a <br />higher rate of autism. She informed the Committee members about House Bill 221 <br />sponsored by Lori Halvorson and several websites that provide information about <br />Monsanto & GMOs. There was some discussion of various means of natural weed <br />control. <br /> <br /> She had requested that an ordinance be passed to restrict these chemicals in the city. The <br />Committee requested additional information and resources be provided prior to making <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />
