In order to control the pump from the proposed tower when Well No.1 is <br />running, it will be necessary to install an altitude valve at the existing 100,000 gallon tower whether <br />or not the new tower is constructed at elevation 1048 or 1054.5. Therefore, it makes sense to <br />construct the elevation at 1054.5 due to the aforementioned benefits for connection to the Lino <br />Lakes water system. If the tank is to be constructed adjacent to the existing 100,000 gallon tank, <br />and it is desired to leave the existing tank on-line, then it is recommended that the new tank be <br />constructed with a HWL of 1048. <br /> <br />Sizine <br /> <br />It is recommended that a 500,000 gallon elevated tank be constructed. In 1997, the MSA <br />Comprehensive Water Plan recommended that a 400,000-gallon elevated tank be constructed so that <br />the total system storage would be 500,000 gallons. There is an economic advantage to constructing <br />a 500,000-gallon tank compared to a 400,000-gallon tank in terms of dollars per gallon. Also, if a <br />500,000 gallon tank were constructed, there is the potential for eliminating the existing 100,000 <br />gallon elevated storage tank if desired. This may have some merit due to the possible elevation <br />difference between the existing 100,000-gallon tank and the proposed tank. <br />
