St. Paul <br /> Kate Drewry—DNR Julie Ekman—DNR <br /> Ali Elhassan- Metropolitan Council Ryan Goodman - Bolton Menk Engineering <br /> Mike Grochela—Lino Lakes Erin Heydinger—WSB <br /> Tom Hovey—DNR Barb Huberty—Legislative Water Commission <br /> Rachel Juba—Hugo Jim Keinath—Circle Pines <br /> Jay Kennedy—Mahtomedi Rachel Leitz- Hugo <br /> Mark Maloney—Shoreview Scott Neilson—Mahtomedi <br /> Carmelita Nelson—DNR Debra Neutkens—WB Press <br /> Paul Palzer—Centerville Mark Peterson- Forest Lake <br /> Bill Petracek-Lexington Paul Putzier—DNR <br /> Dale Reed -White Bear Township Joe Richter—DNR <br /> Bill Short—WB Township James Studenski—TKDA-WB Township <br /> Jim Windingstad—City of Columbus Steve Winter—Lexington <br /> Water Supply Plan Updates <br /> • Folders were given to each city containing the information that is being distributed statewide to <br /> water suppliers needing to complete their water supply plan by Dec. 31,2016. <br /> • Carmelita provide a written summary from previous meetings of the philosophical ideas of why <br /> the area must conserve water and why the 17%is reasonable (see last page) <br /> • The requirement for effective water conservation measures in each community's water supply <br /> plan is not due to the White Bear Lake settlement agreement; Minnesota statute requires us to <br /> do so.Today we will discuss water conservation ideas,final decisions on water conservation will <br /> be in each city's approved water supply plan in Part 3. <br /> • Julie added that the settlement agreement states the percent reduction is a goal (and not a <br /> mandate).We believe the goal is reasonable and attainable overtime.Water conservation is <br /> everyone's responsibility regardless of a lawsuit or settlement agreement.Also, implementation <br /> of effective water conservation measures is required in every community's water supply plan, <br /> statewide. <br /> Review of Water Conservation Goals <br /> Paul Putzier noted that measuring the impact of water conservation measures will be challenging <br /> because of the influence of the weather,climate,water loss through leaks,fluctuating needs of the <br /> community among other things.This is one reason we greatly appreciate each communities' input at <br /> these meetings—we hope that you all can help us figure out a meaningful way to measure the <br /> effectiveness of various water conservation measures. <br /> We know that the Table 2 exercises were hypothetical and won't be sharing numbers from <br /> communities' "homework".We felt this exercise was a good way to "push" everyone to challenge <br /> themselves to come up with ideas for reducing water use that could reach the goals in the worksheet.
