City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />November 24, 2015 <br />City Clerk Bender stated that the Quale’s have received letters from the City, certified and <br />uncertified, regarding the maintenance of the grass/weeds on these lots. They were sent a <br />registered letter prior to the cutting this year and that they would be assessed $580 not $930 in <br />2016 and the remainder ($350) in 2017 due to noticing requirements and timing unless they <br />desired to pay. Ms. Bender also stated that she attempted to work with the Quale’s realtor to <br />have the property maintained and was informed that Mr. Quale had recent undergone surgery. <br />Mr. Quale confirmed that both he and his wife had undergone surgery in the past year. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued regarding maintenance requirements, lack of responses received from the <br />Quale’s subsequent to notification of intent to maintain grass at their expense or ceasing City <br />grass maintenance. <br /> <br />Both Mr. Quale and Ms. Bender stated that there had been no contact following any mailings, <br />billing or services being provided. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Love, seconded by Council Member Fehrenbacher to close the <br />public hearing at 6:50 p.m. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />IV. PUBLIC INPUT <br /> <br />1. None. <br /> <br />V. NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />1. Res. #15-0XX – Adopting Delinquent Municipal Utilities, Garbage & Nuisance/City <br /> Abatement Services <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Fehrenbacher, seconded by Council Member King to adopt <br />Res. #15-037 – Adopting Delinquent Municipal Utilities, Garbage & Nuisance/City <br />Abatement Services as presented. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />VI. COUNCIL & ADMINISTRATION ANNOUNCEMENT <br /> <br />Administrator Ericson stated that they recently held a 2016 Fete des Lacs Festival Committee <br />meeting, several local business owners were present along with several Centerville Lion <br />members and several parade committee members. Administrator Ericson stated that he is <br />confident that with the leadership and experience of individuals willing to participate the <br /> <br />upcoming celebrations will be excellent. <br /> <br />Council Member Love stated that he received notification that the League of Minnesota Cities <br />Insurance Trust would be disbursing dividends shortly and the City is slated to receive $7,689, <br />the Centennial Fire District is slated to receive $11,097, Centennial Lakes Police Department <br />$4,523, Rush Line Corridor Task Force $462 and the Anoka County Fire Protection Council $24. <br />Council Member Love commended staff from all organizations for keeping expenditures, safety <br />and pro-activity in mind during the past year equating to the distribution of dividends. <br /> <br />Page 2 of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
