<br />II Awards ceremony <br />We reinitiated the concept of the volunteer award ceremony, for the fhst time since the cities <br />'obtained control of the management of community progrmnming. Over forty volunteers and <br />. producers showed up on Apri123i'd for hors d'ouevres, . <br />conversation, trophies and channel 15 clothing. Eleven trophies <br />were handed out in recognition of outstanding efforts acrosS the <br />past Year. A detailed list of the award recipients and photos were <br />published in the monthly newsletter, and the program. was <br />videotaped, along with some raucous, pre-ceremony, red carpet <br />commentary. In <br />addition to the <br />trophies that were <br />handed out, we also <br />distributed the many <br /> <br />The awards' channel 15 logo <br />items, like sweatshirts <br />and jackets, that had been earned by our volunteers <br />across the previous year. Since this was the first <br /> <br />time we'd done this in some time, the event was <br />held at the Media Center. Future awards <br />ceremonies will be held at some other venue. <br /> <br /> <br />.' According to our most ~t <br />. . survey of cable subscn"bers, high school sporting event <br />Coverage was the most frequently cited reason for <br />watching the community channel <br /> <br /> <br />Kenton Kipp, our Van Coordinator and his asSistant <br />Matt Waldron, put up some.!eany good numbers in <br />2002. The number ofvan shoots, volunteers and hours <br />that folks cont;nbuted all increased. One area that was <br />particularly impressive was the number of hours <br />. volunteered. In 2002 people spent 968 hours assisting <br />in the production of community programming. In 2002 <br />they spent 2,513 hours doing so. That is close to triple! <br />Setting up for a shoot at the National Kenton and Matt do a great job of worldng with the <br />Sports Center volunteers.
