The 2003 Internal Revenue Service (IRS) maximum <br />mileage rate isJ6 cents per mile, down from 36.5 cents in <br />2002. The IRS attributes this change to lower gas prices <br />as measured on June 30,2002. <br />· The maximum contribution to defelTed compensation <br />plans increases to $12,000 in 2003, with an additional <br />$2,000 available to those over 50. <br />· The Social Security maximum wage base increases to <br />$87,000 in 2003 from $84,900 in 2002.
