Several <br />requests were denied resulting in shift switches and other juggling acts to accommodate <br />officers. Our part time officer is still out due to an injury and surgery which drastically <br />impacts the schedule. There was also a large amount of sick time used by the officers <br />due to illnesses. <br /> <br />Officers took a total of 44 shifts off during the month of December that needed to be <br />filled to keep three officers on the street. There was also 1 additional shift where an <br />officer left c2dy dL5 to illness. They are broken down as such; <br /> <br />Vacation <br />Comp time <br />Holidays <br />Sick time <br /> <br />22 shifts <br />1 0 shifts <br />04 shifts <br />o 8 shifts <br /> <br />Part time officer Hinson covered 0 of those shifts <br />Deputy Chief Makela covered 0 of those shifts <br />Investigator Blanck covered 1 of those shifts <br />Sergeant Nelson covered 7 of those shifts <br />Corporals covered 4 of those shifts <br />Overtime covered 0 of those shifts <br />Payback covered 1 of those shifts <br />31 of the shifts were not covered <br /> <br />We were short street coverage 24 of the 31 days in December. A total of243 days <br />were short street coverage of 365 total days in 2002. <br /> <br />Officer Corlew and Officer Arntzen are now both out on their own as of January <br />1 st. They will fill in approximately 40 shifts per month. <br /> <br />32. <br />
