City of Centerville Work Plan
The City of Centerville plans to hire an administrative intern
to assist the city administrator with economic development
priorities as per the attached 2016 Centerville City Council
Focus Goals and On Going Priorities in addition to the 2017
Goals which have not been finalized after the January 25, 2017
City Council/Commissions Goalsetting Session. In addition, the
intern would work with other city staff in the different
departments to help them achieve their goals and objectives and
in turn provide the intern with the valuable experience and
skills.
This internship is very much a hands on experience with the
intern focusing on accomplishing goals of the city council and
commissions. We have an open door policy which allows the intern
to ask questions at any time with direction provided by the city
administrator. We focus on the development of communication
skills, organizational skills, project management, writing
reports, preparing meeting agendas and minutes, research, and
data management. The intern will meet with chamber of commerce
staff, economic development professionals and business owners to
accomplish economic development objectives. We teach
professional city management skills, time management skills, and
interpersonal communication skills. The intern will be
presenting to the city council, planning and zoning commission,
and park and recreation commission as well.
The city is committed to providing a professional experience
that will develop the skills and abilities which are necessary
to be a successful city administrator. The start date will be
flexible as to the availability of the intern with a 40 hour
work week at $10/hr. for a period up to six months.
76
