Res. #14-028
A RESOLUTION DETERMING WATER SERVICE AVAILABILITY FOR
CERTAIN PROPERTIES
WHEREAS, City Code Chapter 51, Section 51.08, specifies that all properties with
water service available shall connected by a specific date and
WHEREAS, properties at 1716, 1724 and 1740 Heritage Street (Subject Properties) have
a watermain on the back of their property, however the city downtown infrastructure plan
provides for a future main to be constructed in the street at the front of these properties,
and
WHEREAS, the future watermain to be constructed in Heritage Street would be
considerably closer to the homes than the existing main at the back property line, thus the
cost to connect to the closer main in the street would likely be less than the alternative
line at the back of the property.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Centerville,
Minnesota, that: for the purposes of the mandatory connection date provided in City
Code Chapter 51, the watermain to be constructed in the street is hereby determined to be
where mandatory service shall be required for the Subject Properties, and the deadline for
connection shall be in accordance with the policy in effect at the time that watermain is
constructed.
This Resolution still requires any property to follow the provisions of City Code Chapter
51, Section 51.08(b) in the event a private well on the property falls into disrepair.
Adopted by the Council this 27th day of August, 2014.
Tom Wilharber, Mayor
TeresaBender, Clerk
