Ir terz4& Toobti164f I&ql- Centerville Special Event Permit Application The Long Underwear Run/Walk (5K, & 8K) Submitted Monday, March 6, 2017 LTITLE, PURPOSE, AND BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF EVENT: General Background Information: • This running event was previously know as Outrun Homeless. This will be the third annual event to benefit the hungry and homeless held in Center- ville. All running/walking events are on the same day -Saturday September 23, 2017. The course will be set up on Thursday and Friday, September 21 st & 22th. This is the same course as the annual 2016 and earlier Centerville Festival of the Lakes runs. Cen- terville Parks and Recreation Committee has elected to alter their Fete des Lacs running course for 2017. We may revisit the decision to stick with the older course later in the year. • This is a fund raising event for No One Left Hungry Foundation. Marsha Marcussen is the founder and principle operating officer. She has established strategic relationship with and works in cooperation with Union Gospel Mission, a homeless shelter in St Paul. • This funds raised in 2015 and 2016 were used to provide shoes, sleeping bags, blankets and warm clothing to the homeless and to support homeless shelters in St Paul and Anoka. The funds raised in 2017 will be used for a similar purpose. • The event benefits the homeless in Minnesota. People in need from rural and suburban areas tend to migrate to the larger cities. It is the intention of the event organizer to ben- efit those in need where ever they are in our State. Thus the statement of purpose is to benefit the homeless in Minnesota rather than Anoka or Ramsey Counties. • The race committee members are all volunteers. One hundred percent of the funds raised, in excess of expenses, go directly to feed the hungry or support Minnesota non- profit organizations dedicated to transitioning the homeless to self sufficiency with pride and purpose.
