Teresa Bender
rom: Dale Tuma <daletuma@outlook.com>
Sent: Thursday, June 08, 2017 11:11 PM
To: Teresa Bender
Subject: Re: Water Connection
Thanks for getting back to Brenda & I so quickly, and look forward to working regarding this issue.
Sincerely Dale & Brenda Tuma
Sent from Outlook
From: Teresa Bender <TBender@CENTERVILLEMN.com>
Sent: Thursday, June 8, 2017 3:57 PM
To: daletuma(@outlook.com
Subject: Water Connection
Dear Dale & Brenda:
is always a pleasure to speak to you. You had questions regarding water connection and the deadline date for
connection of December 31, 2017.
The last time we spoke, I informed you that the City would be submitting for a grant that would assist homeowners of
certain incomes to qualify for either reduced or no fees associated with water connections. This did not happen.
I have sent several emails to our Mayor requesting that Council consider this connection deadline date soon so that
homeowners can consider their options along with finding a contractor.
With all of this being said:
We do not know if they will change the date.
We do know that we do not have a grant for financial assistance; however, Council could be creative like hiring one
contractor obtaining better rates than individual homeowners could obtain and assess these fees.
You can hire a contractor and pay them.
You can request that Council assess the WAC/Water Trunk System Fee of $1,850 along with a water meter fee of $411 to
your property taxes.
You can request that the assessment be deferred for a period of 5 years; however, interest accrues for that five year
period and the term that is determined once it is removed from deferral or when you sell the home.
I suggest that you wait a week or two. While I am corresponding with you the Mayor is also corresponding. Lets see if
they schedule a work session or something to discuss this connection deadline issue.
.incerely,
