Memorandum <br />To: Honorable Mayor Paar & City Council Members <br />CC: Mike Ericson, City Administrator <br />From: Charles Roberts, Administrative Intern <br />Date: 6/14/2017 <br />Re: EDA Reorganization <br />Background: <br />One of the 2017 City Council Focus Goals is to reform the current city Economic <br />Development Authority — currently composed of the 5 members of the City Council — to <br />a 5 member board composed of 2 sitting Council members and 3 Centerville residents. <br />The first step in this reorganization process is holding a public hearing. According to <br />Minnesota State Statute the general public must be notified of this public hearing not <br />more than 30 days in advance and published in the local newspaper for two consecutive <br />weeks. <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends that the City Council pass a motion directing staff to begin the <br />process of preparing and publishing a Notice of Public Hearing regarding the <br />modification of the City's Economic Development Authority. <br />
