<br />Goal 8 Community Gardens <br /> <br />item 1. Blooming Boulevards and Communti'ty Gardens <br />Gardening is the number one hobby in America and can be enjoyed by all ages from <br />youth to senior citizens. Council believes vacant public lands and rights of way are <br />suitable sites for decorative gardening and production of food to augment families' <br />nutritional needs. A portion af the food could also be grawn for needy families in the <br />area. Council believes a task force of gardeners and volunteers can spruce up <br />Centerviile through efforts to plant and maintain public gardens. The City of <br />Minneapolis has a very successful program that cauld be adopted. Council asks for the <br />advice and caunsel of the City Forester Joe Goetz, and gardeners throughout the City <br />on this issue.
