Res. #18-00 <br /> A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING& MEMORIALIZING JON GRAHEK FOR <br /> HIS YEARS OF DEDICATED PUBLIC SERVICE <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Jon Grahek served for numerous years on the Centennial Lakes Police <br /> Commission (2000-2003) prior to the restructuring and appointment of public officials, <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Jon Grahek was first appointed to the Centerville Parks & Recreation <br /> Committee by the City Council on October 28, 2009 and served until December 14, <br /> 2016. He also served as Chairperson of the Committee for his final two (2)years, and <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Jon Grahek has served the citizens of Centerville from December 14, <br /> 2016 to January of 2018 as a member of the Planning& Zoning Commission, and <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Jon Grahek provided excellent leadership, demonstrated initiative and <br /> perseverance through difficult budget, economic and personal challenges, and <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Jon Grahek was a leader, respected by his fellow Committee Members, <br /> City staff and elected officials. As a colleague, he always treated fellow <br /> Committee/Commission Members with respect and valued their opinions even when they <br /> disagreed with him, and <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Jon Grahek was employed with the City of St. Paul as a Sergeant — <br /> Chief Inspector, Office of Inspection and had been employed with them for 24 years up <br /> until he physically was not able. He served in the capacities of patrol officer, patrol <br /> supervisor, a narcotics investigator and the Department's Chief Inspector. He received <br /> three commendations during his employment along with the distinguished Chiefs <br /> Award. <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Jon Grahek lost his battle with cancer and passed away on Tuesday, <br /> January 2, 2018, and <br /> WHEREAS, the Council recognizes that when an individual serves, so serves their <br /> family. The Council also recognizes and acknowledges their sacrifices along with their <br /> loss, and <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Jon Grahek served not only citizens of Centerville but of St. Paul. <br /> When individuals provide public service they are giving back to their communities by <br /> providing a better place for others to live, work and operate business(es), and <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br /> CENTERVILLE, MINNESOTA, we recognize Mr. Jon Grahek for his dedication and <br /> service to the community.
