City of Centerville <br /> Council Meeting Minutes <br /> January 10,2018 <br /> Administrator Statz reported that he and Attorney Glaser met with Ruffridge Johnson earlier in <br /> the day and stated that their due diligence period ends at the end of January with their 1031 <br /> Exchange ending on April 3, 2018. He felt that they would be commencing construction shortly <br /> thereafter. <br /> 2. Anoka County Local Government Officials Meeting <br /> Administrator Statz stated that the Anoka County Local Government Officials meeting is <br /> scheduled for January 31, is a good group that provides a large amount of information and to let <br /> Staff know if they desire to attend. <br /> Council Member Paar stated that the Centennial Fire Steering meeting will be held the following <br /> evening and that it will be the first meeting of the year. <br /> Council Member Koski stated that WSB attended the P & Z meeting, lengthy discussion was had <br /> and they provided a presentation of the comprehensive plan to date. He stated that the <br /> Commission desired for additions such as consideration for building around Centerville, the <br /> downtown area, the lakes as an attraction and how much of the terminology of"small-town" feel <br /> should be utilized in the document. <br /> Council Member Montain stated that he attended a recent Parks & Recreation Committee <br /> meeting where they are preparing for their annual skating parties. He stated that the first is <br /> scheduled for January 20, 2018 which would include a sledding hill dedication and party. He <br /> also stated that they have scheduled their second Skate Night for February 10, 2018 from 6:00 <br /> p.m. — 9:00 p.m. with free hayrides from 6:30 p.m. — 8:30 p.m. with both events providing free <br /> hot cocoa, popcorn and a bonfire. Council Member Montain reported that the Committee <br /> graciously accepted an $8,000 donation from the Dead Broke Saddle Club for park <br /> improvement. <br /> Administrator Statz stated that he attended the meeting, discussed park dedication revenue, <br /> capital improvements and provided suggestions for condensing their meetings. <br /> Mayor Paar requested that the paper provide language regarding the City's twitter and to follow <br /> it in the summary of Council action. He stated that the City is attempting to broaden outreach <br /> and would be commencing a Facebook page shortly. Mayor Paar also stated that the warming <br /> house and hockey/pleasure rinks are open and that the City is looking to fill two (2) part-time <br /> rink attendant positions. Mayor Paar reported that the City of Columbus has entertained the <br /> construction of an asphalt plant near the current Running Aces Casino, modified their ordinance <br /> allowing the use and would be meeting again to consider approval. Mayor Paar stated that <br /> discussions have been had with local entities (i.e., RCWD, Met. Council and Anoka County) <br /> regarding impacts on the community, wetlands and surrounding communities; including traffic, <br /> etc. Mayor Paar reported that he and Administrator Statz would be attending an upcoming <br /> Chamber of Commerce meeting and providing a "State of the City" address. <br /> Page 6 of 7 <br />
