Res. #18-00 <br /> A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING MRS. KARI LETOURNEAU'S HEROISM <br /> WHEREAS, Mrs. Kari Letourneau is the Director of Apple Academy and a resident of <br /> Centerville, and <br /> WHEREAS, On February 1, 2018 she administered the Heimlich Maneuver to a three (3) year old <br /> child under her care at the daycare facility who was chocking. Her efforts dislodged the food prior <br /> to first responders arriving, and <br /> WHEREAS, Mrs. Letourneau's training, calm demeanor and quick-thinking allowed her to <br /> administer needed attention to a child that was choking and in need of oxygen, and <br /> WHEREAS, Mrs. Letourneau, along with all Apple Academy staff, have received licensed <br /> daycare required medical education certifications (first aid, CPR, severe head trauma, Sudden <br /> Infant Death Syndrome, bloodborne pathogens and general child development). Apple Academy <br /> also trains it employees on mandated reporting, risk reduction and medication(s), and <br /> WHEREAS, Without Mrs. Letourneau's efforts, the outcome could have been tragic, and <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF CENTERVILLE, <br /> MINNESOTA, that we acknowledge Mrs. Letourneau's skills, staff and their desire to ensure the <br /> safety of all children at their facility.
