Centerville 2040 Chapter 4: Housing <br /> • Encourage the revitalization of the exlsting housing stock In the City as a source of <br /> affordable housing which does not discriminate against persons seeking housing <br /> based on age, religion, race, ethnic ongio, sexual preference, gender, or disability. <br /> • Avoid adoption of regulations which create excessive obstacles to the development <br /> of affordable housing. <br /> • Protect residential neighborhoods from incompatible and offensive uses. <br /> • Identify areas appropriate for multiple family and senior housing opportunities. <br /> • Allow residential lot divisions only when adequate utilities are immediately available <br /> and are consistent with public utility sequencing. <br /> • Prohibit residential development without public utilities. <br /> • Require the installation of sidewalks on at least one side of the street in new <br /> neighborhoods where suggested by the City Engineer. <br /> • Explore opportunities to install sidewalks in existing neighborhoods that lack them. <br /> • Maintain standards for landscaping and screening to ensure adequate aesthetic <br /> controls. <br /> • Maintain adequate standards for site access, parking, and structure setbacks. <br /> • Enforce standards for structure upkeep and site maintenance to ensure long-term <br /> aesthetic controls. <br /> • Revisit all established standards as appropriate. <br /> The Metropolitan Council issues forecasts for population and household growth.
