Every
day the firefighters answer the call for medical ernergendes
and to suppress fires - structural and wildland. The District's
fire prevention program is outstanding and produces proven
results. Most importantly, is the dedication of the fireflghters. Chief Milo Bennett
recited a lengthy list of firefighters who have served their community for many,
many years. Please join me In giving thanks to all the fireflghters who work a very
dangerous job for the citizens of our community.

Thank you AI LaMotte
AI served the City on the Planning and Zoning Committee for many years. He
has seen many changes through the years and helped guide the development of the
City. AI, on behalf of all the Coundl members and citizens, many thanks for your
dedicated service.

Goals to be Discussed
In the last edition of Le }oumol, I promised to talk about goals. Coundl began a
process In January to define the goals for the City. A dtaft proposal will be dis-
cussed at the Wednesday, March 28, Coundl Meeting. The final plan, in conjunc-
tion with budget allocations, will provide citizens a road map for the next 2 years.
There are 10 goals In all and here Is a quick glimpse at 4 of the goals:
1. Examine Communication Methods - A taskforce is formed and starting
work.
2. Parks and Recreation - Provides funds for recreation programs, provides
safe, supervised swimming opportunities at Centerville Beach and transporta-
tion. Allocates dollars to recreation summer programs. Also, pedestrian and
bicycle paths will be discussed as will a long-term recreation plan.
3. Commerdal and Industrial concept and streetscape plans - The City
wants to continue the work of the Minnesota Design Team and plan for old
town renovations and connect existing businesses, parks, and public fadlitles
throughout the dty.

(Noteb II ok contJnued 011 pap 8)
