Whatever their reasons were, these French-
Canadian settlers, some from Sorel, Quebec Canada, arrived and established
the town of Centerville in the mid-1800's.
Many of our community's residents are direct descendants of these early
-- settlers. These people are proud to hold on to their French-Canadian heri-
tage.
Pierre Messier, a 43 year old PhysIcs graduate, is a native of Sorel and stili
resides in that community. He and I have begun corresponding via e-mail
about his hometown. His native language of course is French, however, does
write and understand English fairly well (better than some Americans!)
