Worp NGtIIre Center <br />As fall approached, Wargo Nature Center staff were busy immersing them- <br />selves in stepping back in tJme to the Civil War period. This year's Heritage Lab <br />ran for three weeks at the permanent site on PeltIer Lake. Over 3,a adults and <br />children participated in the 8-station interactive living history lab. <br />Stations inducIed a station keeper's house on the Underground. Railroad, a <br />drilling and marching exerc:Ise, along with <br />Union jack and Johmy Rebel at the CIvIl <br />War stations. ParticIpants had a chance to <br />play parlor games and outdoor team <br />games and performed several "chores" <br />common to faI1n life during early Minne- <br />sota. Doctor lain captIYated her audl- <br />ence with live leeches, home ritmedJes and <br />CMI War doctorins at the Minnesota <br />Mecllclne Show. Students also learned <br />about arassf10pper plagues and sn0w- <br />storms, and participated in a fire brigade <br />common to the Hinkley fire clays. ~ <br />were encouraged to bring an item to bar- <br />ter or trade at the Country.
