New LaclderTruck After over one year of waiting. the Centennial fire District received their new fire truck on Friday afternoon October 6. The new truck. EnaJne 31, Is equipped with a 65' ladder, the first ladder truck for CentennIal Are Depart- ment. ThIs feature was deemed necessary to meet the need of this growing. In- dustrial communltJ. The ladder can be Iowe! eel to -10-, enabling a ftrefightel to bring an Injured person down to safety rather than dlmblnc down the ladder. Fi. eftaI.ters are undergoing traininc on the new truck before It goes into service at the end of October. Engine 31 features pump handles that are located next to the driver's seat. Very few fire trucks are set up In this manner. A radio system Is installed at the top of the ladder enabling communica- tion with those on the ground. The truck also features a monitor Inside the cab. to view the backside of the engine for safety reasons. In its third year, the Fun Run has taken on many new participams. In JoInInI with the ChaIn of Lakes YMCA, FairvIew LaIces Uno Lakes Clinic, Vacation Sports and ERA Muske Company, Daryl Cooper, Is now seen as a growlnc success. The race was held at the Rice Creek ChaIn of Lakes AnoIca County Park In Uno Lakes. With the Park's new improve- rnentIt the location was outstancIIns. I wish all could have enjoyed the beautiful morningt. To diose we missed. we hopno- see you next year. R.c:a~lse to tell you the truth, the day was unbeIJevabIe. It was a day to run! The temperature was perfect. and runninc next to the lake as the geese turn to cheer on each runner was a great feeling. Each year as I see the familiar faces return. At some point I would IJke to see The New Fall Colors 5k Run and One mile Family WalklJog. to be at- tached to some type of fall event or festival with the joininc cities of Uno lakes. Cen- terville.
