New LaclderTruck <br /> <br />After over one year of waiting. the Centennial fire District received their <br />new fire truck on Friday afternoon October 6. The new truck. EnaJne 31, Is <br />equipped with a 65' ladder, the first ladder truck for CentennIal Are Depart- <br />ment. ThIs feature was deemed necessary to meet the need of this growing. In- <br />dustrial communltJ. The ladder can be Iowe! eel to -10-, enabling a ftrefightel to <br />bring an Injured person down to safety rather than dlmblnc down the ladder. <br />Fi. eftaI.ters are undergoing traininc on the new truck before It goes into <br />service at the end of October. Engine 31 features pump handles that are located <br />next to the driver's seat. Very few fire trucks are set up In this manner. This <br />enatne has a bJaer pump than most with a nozzle located on the end of the 1ad- <br />der fIowInc 1,000 gallons of fluid per minute, while the nozzle on the engine. <br />flows at 1,500 gallons per minute. The truck can be oper ated by a minimum of <br />three flreftghters; an engineer to monitor and c:omroI the water supply from In- <br />side the ~; and two ftt efl&hters. one on the ladder and one on the ground as a <br />spotter. A radio system Is installed at the top of the ladder enabling communica- <br />tion with those on the ground. The truck also features a monitor Inside the cab. <br />to view the backside of the engine for safety reasons. <br />Each of the three S1a1ions In Centennial fire District house one engine. en- <br />gine 31 will be housed at Station 2 and will be available when needed in all areas <br />of the DIstrict. <br />If you are interested in becoming a volunteer ftreflghtel with Centennial Are <br />District, please comac:t Chief Milo Bennet during regular bUsiness hours at 784- <br />7472. In its third <br />year, the Fun Run has taken on many new <br />participams. In JoInInI with the ChaIn of <br />Lakes YMCA, FairvIew LaIces Uno Lakes <br />Clinic, Vacation Sports and ERA Muske <br />Company, Daryl Cooper, Is now seen as a <br />growlnc success. <br />The race was held at the Rice Creek <br />ChaIn of Lakes AnoIca County Park In Uno <br />Lakes. With the Park's new improve- <br />rnentIt the location was outstancIIns. I <br />wish all could have enjoyed the beautiful <br />morningt. To diose we missed. we hopno- <br />see you next year. The temperature was perfect. <br />and runninc next to the lake as the geese <br />turn to cheer on each runner was a great <br />feeling. <br />Each year as I see the familiar faces <br />return. I keep thlnldnc how blessed our <br />communltJ truly is. At some point I would <br />IJke to see The New Fall Colors 5k Run <br />and One mile Family WalklJog. to be at- <br />tached to some type of fall event or festival <br />with the joininc cities of Uno lakes. Cen- <br />terville. Circle Pines and Lexin&ton.
