Now thatJ am an "official" resident of CentervlUe. I have enjoyed experiencing our
community in various methods. Up until recently, my transponation had been my
automobile, driving throughout Certterville, finding stories, photographing interest-
ing subjects, meeting people, selling acIvertising and frequent trips to the gas
pump! A new owner of a 12' Icayak, I have enjoyed the view from paddling around
CentervIIIe lake. Through my paddling, I have taken in a new perspecdve of the
community' and have enjoyed visiting with people as they sit on theii- docks, ab-
sorbing the natural beauty that surrounds us. My bicycle has been seein& a few
extra miles. as I Schedule in more time in ,riding. 'ApIn, anew perspective Is pined
through various senses. We are so fortunate to bve in such a beautiful community,
with many opportUnities for all ages. I encouraae you to get out and experience CenteriiUe In a new way this summer. And, if
you see me, out and about on my bike, taICing a walk, or pacIcIIing' on one of the many surrounding lakes, burning up the calories
and additional pounds that have appeared from sitting at this computer for extended periods of time, while eating homemade
cooIdes. junk food aiKI downing massive imounts of caffeine in the late hours, please stop me for a visit or join me in the ad-
Bectect in, September.of 1989 to serve on CenterviIIe's City CouncIl, resi-
dent Tom Dario accepted the 13Sk of developing a City celebration. In 1990,
the first year of the Celebration, a contest ,was held to choose a name for the
grand event. CentervlIIe resident John BUdcby, was ~ as the winner
with his entry of "Fete des Lacs". Fete des Lacs Is French and means FestlvGI of
the ,Lakes. According to local resident Met Dupre (of French descent of
course!), pronunciation Is as foDows: ..(et doy lodes", although you wiD hear
some folks around here pronounce It , ..feet day Iodcs". However you pr0-
nounce It, we all know what you're referring to and know that the upcoming
CelebratIon wiD be tt'tree fun-filled days in our community. '
Tom DarIo had been in charge of Fete des Lacs for several years, initIaDy
while serving on CentervlIIe's City Council. Fete des Lacs had eventually been
turned over to the Centervllle Uon's Club and Dario continued his involvement
of the event as a Uon's Club member.
ThIs annual event is brought to the community throuih many hours d0-
nated by the CentervlIIe Uon's Oub, other members within our community
and numerous donations. A complete schedule of Fete des Lacs events are In-
cluded in this newsletter on the pink insert.
