Man:h2000 I ..-.e the Past, While Focusina on the Future I It has been six months since I started publishing 1he monthly Le Journal for the City of CentervIIIe. Even though. I do not reside in CentervilIe. I feel very much a part of chis cIeIightfuI and growing commu- nity. Throughout my research for the newsletter, I have met many residents and business owners in the community who have opened their doors and their lives to me. The generosity of these people's time and trust has been far beyond what I had ever anticipated. The warmth ex- tended to me at fM!f!iy event I attend. each person I've intelliewed. the businesses I work wlth. is an over-all reflection of the quality of lie that the City of CenterviUe can be proud of. The history of CenterviJIe has been kept aflYe by several residents. Some. whose farniIies date back to the 1800's. others who take pride in their community and w1ue 1he contributions made by those who have gone before them. Resident and unof6ciaI Centerville Historian, Mary Capra prepared a beautiful display of pho- tographs of the community's early years. This exposition hangs proudly in the Council Chambers of CemeniIIe's CIty HaD and is open to the pubBc for viewing during normal business houn. Capra de- voted several hours of research into pro- clueing this fine exhibit which wiD be en- )oJed. for many years to come. CenterviIIe has seen significant growth in the recent put with new c0n- struction on the rise. WIth so many new people moving into the community, take it upon yourself to welcome them and invite them to &et involVed with any of the vari- ous city projects. I challenge you to grab one of the many opportunities available to .. involved with a community event this year.
