Teresa Sender
From, Pat branch <p2branch@gmail,com>
Sent: Tuesday, May 01,2018 9:27 PM
To: Mark Statz
Cc: Teresa Bender
Subject May PR Meeting
Mark, You told me that you would not be able to make the May P meeting.
I have a rather long list of decisions that I am going to ask the committee to make. The following is for your info and so
that you can weigh in where you see appropriate. Pay attention to the"rules" I am setting out for the paddle event.
Those rules may need your approval or coordination with Kurt. I do not talk directly with the City Attorney as that may
cost the city money.
Run items: I am asking for the committee's approval on each of these items.
1) Start the runs at 07:30-That is an half hour earlier and the reason is to reduce conflict with the softball tournament.
I have and will ask the Lions to move their softball tournament by a half hour as well.
2)Timing system, I want to use RACE IRE self timing software. Cost$99. Much cheaper than using a professional
timer. Requires 2 committee members as volunteer timers
3) Registration. I want the committee's input on choosing to stay with Midwest Events(used them for the past two
years)or using RACEWIRE. Advantage with Racewire is it will save us the$99 software licensing fee. Staying with
Midwest offers several advantage in consistency and on line advertising
4) 1 have some poster and handout suggestions that I would appreciate the committee's input on.
5) 1 want to get the committee's views on awards. This can be a big expense or not so big depending on how we go. We
do not need a decision this month. But getting their input will be helpful.
6)T-shirts I will inform the committee on the Fete committees decision on how we will do t-shirts,
PADDLE DES LACS ITEMS:
1) Event times Unless we have a very small group we will have 4 sub-events
a.). Parent/Youth-2 person canoes or kayaks 12:00
b.).2 person canoes or kayaks-both people over 12 years old 12:10
C.) Single canoes and kayaks.- paddler must be age??Or older - 12«20
d.). Stand Up Paddle boards. -12:30
Bald Eagle Waterski Show begins at 2.00 2).Water Safety Rules imposed by the Race Director [MARK-
THIS IS WHERE WE NEED YOUR OM
a). RED wormed by all participants
M.Waivers signed by adult participants or minors parent/guardian
c). Children 11 and under may participant with their parent in the parent/youth event.
d). Paddlers between the age of 12-18 may participate with Parents approval and waiver either as a two person
canoe or kayak or solo.
3).This is a Free event for 2018. We can make the decision on future years at a later date.
4).There may be no event t-shirts or awards.
5). Event timing will be done with Racewire software on a laptop. We have two volunteers to do this task- Marsha
Marcussen and Mike Giovinazzo 6). Request committee allocate$300 out of their budget now intended for the running
events to be used for the paddle events. Money will be used for items such as but not limited to RACEVVIRE software,
snacks and water for participants and volunteers, flyers and posters,7. We have locate 3 sources for rental equipment.
Kerri Kolstad has 6(?)kayaks she is willing to rent at low cost to the Scouts. The University of Minnesota has equipment
rental to include kayaks, canoes, paddleboards at very reasonable rates$25 one night. Corner Express has 4 kayaks and
4 paddleboards. They rent by the hour but for 3 hours the cost is$25 kayaks and$30 paddleboards.
1
