You pick up the telephone and <br />call 9-1-1.. .just like you have been instructed many times. But there is no <br />immediate sound on the line. No immediate ringing and the line is absolutely <br />noiseless. You begin to think the call has not gone through. <br />Don't hang up, says the Metropolitan 911 Board, US WEST and public <br />safety officials. New digital technology and an upgraded 9-1-1 network are <br />providing a noise-free 9-1-1 network. So, even though you don't hear the <br />typical call processing sounds, the call is being routed through the network to <br />a 9-1-1 answering point. So, if you call 9-1-1, stay on the line. Do not hang <br />up. Trained volunteers <br />from the Anoka County Retired and <br />Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) <br />can prepare federal and state income <br />tax forms and property tax rebate and <br />rent credit forms.
