.Looldng
Forward

~ Centervllle
lit
~
~'
~"
lit
~

"
i
I

by Jim March
City Administrator

The New Year has arrived and it is
time to plan for the upcoming spring and
summer months. Th~ City of Centerville
has grown rapidly over the last several
years. The residential growth appears to ~
be continuing into 1997 and hopefully
some commercial and -tight industriat'growtfrwill follow. 'The key to
growth is to be able to manage the growth and the changes that come
with new development.
Many people have moved to Centerville because of the sense of the
small town atmosphere. In looking at the community priorities gathered
. through the comprehensive planning input meetings, almost all would
like to see Centerville keep its small town atmosphere.
I believe that Centerville can keep its small town feel and rural
atmosphere, regardless of the development that occurs in Uno Lakes,
Hugo or surrounding areas. I offer the following ideas that one could
use to help build the sense of community, retain the small town atmo-
sphere and continue to makeCenterville a desirable place in which to
live.
1. Help keep the area lakes, waterways and parks clean.
2. PI~nt trees andl~ndscape yourbomes_or business.
3. Start budgeting now for needed home repairs.
4. Get involved in community events, activities and meetings.
5. Shop local first.
6. Keep Centerville Number 1 in recycling.
7. Think about how you could improve the looks of your yard or
neighborhood.
8. Get to know your neighbors. Organize a block party.
9. Control your pets.
10. Tell your friends about the great community in which you live.

Attention SnowmobUers
If you are attempting to get to
Centerville Lake, go east on Main
, Street, south on Progress and west on
Sorel to the lake. There appears to be
some confusion regarding proper
snowmobiling in downtowo
Centerville. Do not drive on private
property and please, obey all rules and
regulations. To protect your
snowmobiling privilege become active
in the Rice Creek Trail Association.

Check the batteries in JOur smoke
detector to see if they need to be
changed. Think safety!

Any Comments:
Direct your newsletter com-
ments in writing or by telephone to ',.'
Ry-Chel Gaustad 1880 Main Steet,
Centerville, MN 55038, or call 429-
3232.
