Folll997 ' <br /> <br />CeDtenme LloD's <br />5th'Annual BaUBted <br />Boase Fan Raiser . <br /> <br />On Wednesday, October 29th, <br />through Friday, October 31st, the <br />CentervilIe Lion's Club will host its <br />fIfth annual Haunted House Fund <br />Raiser. This year the Haunted <br />House will be held at the warming <br />house at Laurie LaMotte Park. A <br />new item this year is a haunted <br />hayride through the park. The cost <br />for this event is $2.00, or $1.00 <br />with ,tJJe donation of a non- <br />perishable food item. The proceeds <br />from this event will benefit the - <br />Centennial Food Shelf. You Make a Difference. <br /> <br />The City ofCenterville recently recognized a few of its own with the <br />City's first Lifetime Achievement Awards. We are now foCUSing on <br />nominees for the 1998 awards. We can only do this with <br />your help. If you have a person in mind that has <br />given selfless~y to our community throughout their <br />lives, please send your letters to: <br /> <br />Lifetime Achievement Award Committee <br />C/O City of Centerville <br />1880 Main Street <br />Centerville, MN 55038 <br /> <br />Our 1997 Honorees <br /> <br /> <br />Francis v: Burque - Francis was honored for the many years that-he <br />served as mayor of Centerville and the years he served with the fire <br />department. In addition, he ~ sponsored or served on many other <br />community orientated programs. <br /> <br />Joseph LaCasse - Joseph was honored forthe many years he. <br />dedicated to this community's school system. He served on the Centennial <br />School Board for twenty four years. He was also mayor of Centerville and <br />the assessor. Joseph served as deputy county assessor for five years. <br /> <br />Fr. Joseph Goiffon - Fr. Goiffon was a pioneer priest who served <br />the Church of St. Genevieve in Centerville from 1861-1891. He <br />supervised the building of the third parish c~urch in 1870. It has been <br />.stated that Fr. Goiffon was instrumental in starting the first church dinners <br />as fund raisers. This tradition is still going on today. <br /> <br /> <br />G~oUDd BrealdogSet <br />forSemor Ho.amg - <br /> <br />The dream of building Senior Housing in Centerville is <br />becoming a reality. The ground breaking ceremony for the 16.unit building, <br />which will be named Chauricey Barett Gardens, is Planned for Wednesday, <br />October 22, at 4:30 p.m. n.epublic is welcome to attend.
