Free Breast Cancer Te.tJag <br /> <br />The Anoka County Community Health & Environmental Services <br />Department has been awarded a Minnesota Breast and Cervical Cancer Control <br />Program (MBCCCP) grant to conduct a breast cancer outreach program to <br />identify women in Anoka County who qualify for free breast cancer testing. . <br />The grant is from the Minnesota Department of Health. Every woman is at risk <br />for breast cancer, and her risk increases with age. Breast cancer is the most <br />common cancer among women, 'and three-quarters of all breast cancers in <br />women over 50. <br />Under the Minnesota Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program, free <br />breast cancer testing is available to women who meet the following criteria: <br />, · Women who have no inSl,UUnce, or have, insurance that does not cover <br />Ir.~r'~; the total cost of the tests. <br />\::--~/ · Women who meet qualifying income range criteria <br />· Women who are 40 or older., for office visit and mammogram. <br /> <br />Information about the free breast cancer testing can be obtained by calling the <br />following: <br />· Anoka County Public Health Nursing Intake - 422-6970. <br />· Mork Women's Clinic in Anoka - 421-3686. <br />· MercylUnity Cancer Resource Center - 780-6621. <br />Anoka County Community Health & Environmental Services Department <br />will kick off its second year of outreach programs in October with the <br />department's flu immunization clinics. All of the flu clinics will have breast and <br />cervical cancer handouts and materials available to help remind women to <br />conduct and receive monthly self-exams, yearly clinical exams, and annual <br />mammograms. In addition, American Cancer Society nurses will be present at <br />several flu clinics to answer questions and provide more information regarding <br />breast and cervical cancer. ' <br />Anoka County's outreach activities are being done in conjunction with the <br />American Cancer Society's October pink ribbon campaign for breast cancer <br />awareness. County residents may <br />now call 323-5222 to schedule a <br />Traveler bus to arrive'at your door. <br />To cancel a ride, the new number to <br />dial is 323-5234. <br /> <br />. Meals on Wheels <br /> <br />Make a difference. Every day <br />Meals on Wheels volunteers deliver <br />meals to homebound people, many <br />of whom would not be able to stay <br />in their own homes without this <br />, service.
