CLMP volunteers around the state take regular readings of
water clarity in selected lakes by lowering a white metal disk into the water
until it is no longer visible and then noting the depth. These volunteers
have been taking clarity readings on Centerville Lake in Anoka County for
5 years and Peltier Lake in Anoka County for 10 years.
The volunteers track their data through the open-water months and
subniit ~em annually to the MPcA. According to Klang, by helping the
agency track long-term trends in water quality, CLMP volunteers contribute
greatly to the MPCA's understanding of overall water quality in Minnesota.
For information-onbecoming part of the Citizen Lake-Monitoring Program,
call theMPCA at (612) 282-2618 or toll free at (800) 657-3864.

National Night Out, August 5, 1997

The National Association of Town Watch (NATW) is pleased to
welcome you and your community to the "14th Annual National Night Out"
(NNO) crime prevention event on Tuesday, August 5th, to promote police-
community partnerships, safety, violence prevention, and neighborhood
unity.
