Before <br />Centervllle joins with Anoka County <br />to build a senior housing project, the <br />City will look at the results of a <br />market study for confinnation of what <br />appears to be strong local interest <br />and compelling statistics. <br /> <br />According to a 1995 Anaka County <br />Housing and Redevelopment <br />Authority (HRA) report, there are <br />currently 17,550 seniors (individuals <br />65 and over In the county. The <br />senior population will Increase by 216 <br />percent over the next 25 years to <br />55,620. <br /> <br />.Centerville's current senior <br />population Is 78. In ten years, the <br />population is projected to reach 131, <br />an increase of 68 percent. I'm happy the <br />County can work with Centerville to <br />provide housing for the senior <br />community, - says Langfeld. <br /> <br />The County has hired a consultant to <br />conduct a professional market survey <br />for Centerville's actual senior housing <br />needs. Steve Griesert, president of <br />Community Partners in Northfield. <br />Minnesota, begins work in January <br />and says It will take from six to eight <br /> <br />............ <br /> <br />8LteMJ <br /> <br />weeks to complete. Griesert will <br />interview a wide variety of people in <br />the community, gather statistical <br />Infonnatlon from various sources, <br />and survey existing rental units in the <br />community and surrounding area. <br /> <br />"We will cross verify everything, then <br />provide our conclusions and <br />recommendations for the number of <br />units, type and layout of apartments, <br />rent structure, and sources of <br />financing, - says Griesert. <br /> <br />The cost of the market survey is <br />estimated to be $4,500 and can be <br />included in the total cost of the <br />project.
