Centerville 2040 . ..... <br /> CHAPTER 5* PARKS AND TRAILS <br /> The City adopted a Park and Pedestrian System Comprehensive Plan in 1989, <br /> which provides goals, a needs assessment, concept plans and operations and <br /> maintenance information related to the local park and trail system. That <br /> document and this Plan are intended to serve as a basis for decisions regarding <br /> future implementation of the City park system. <br /> The plan elements reflected in the Park and Trails Plan are based on goals and <br /> polices developed during the Comprehensive Plan update process. It is the <br /> goal of the City of Centerville to: <br /> • Review and update the 1989 park and pedestrian system <br /> comprehensive plan. <br /> • Maintain existing trails, sidewalks, and parks equipment. <br /> • Provide convenient active and passive recreation opportunities that <br /> serve all the residents of Centerville. <br /> • Build new and upgrade existing park properties and trials with <br /> ecologically sound and sustainable materials, where possible. <br /> • Establish a biking/hiking trail system connecting city parks and <br /> residential neighborhoods. <br /> • Provide adequate expansion ofparks and recreation areas In proposed <br /> residential developments <br /> • Provide safe and convenient bicycle and pedestrian access to <br /> community recreation facilities. <br /> • Utilize and preserve parks and recreation opportunities on the shores <br /> of Centerville and Peltier Lakes with appropriate sustainable practices in <br /> mind. <br /> • Promote or provide recreational facilities and programs to serve the <br /> vaned recreational needs of all age groups in the Oty. <br /> Policies reflect the position of the City on the specific implementation of the <br /> Goals.
