Centerville 2040 <br /> CHAPTER 6: TRANSPORTATION <br /> It is the goal of the City of Centerville to: <br /> • Maintain a safe, efficient and convenient multi-modal transportation <br /> system. <br /> • Protect the integrity of the transportation system. <br /> • Provide sufficient off-street parking. <br /> Policies reflect the position of the City on the specific implementation of the <br /> Goals. It is the policy of the City of Centerville to: <br /> • Develop land use development standards that promote safe and <br /> efficient access to the transportation system. <br /> • Develop land uses and access spacing guidelines compatible with the <br /> functional classification of the regional highway system. <br /> • Establish a local transportation network which preserves neighborhood <br /> identity while linking together neighborhoods, community parks and <br /> facilities. <br /> • Identify long term transportation corridors to provide access to and <br /> within the City as development occurs. <br /> • Identifypotential trail corridors for long term linkage to neighborhoods, <br /> public parks and businesses and construct those trails as funding allows. <br /> • Coordinate transportation planning and system improvements with <br /> surrounding communities as well as Anoka County and the Minnesota <br /> Department of Transportation. <br /> • Work with the Metro Transit to maximize transit opportunities for the <br /> community. <br /> This Plan has been prepared to be consistent with the regional transportation <br /> strategies outlined in the Metropolitan Council 2040 Transportation Policy Plan <br /> Chapter 6 1 Pagel <br /> 109 <br />
