CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br /> REQUEST FOR <br /> COUNCIL ACTION entervi(Ce <br /> E77 <br /> Agenda Item# Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: <br /> Administration/Finance June 13, 2018 <br /> TITLE OF ISSUE: <br /> Refuse/Recycling Services In-House Billing <br /> BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: <br /> Contained in the Refuse/Recycling RFP was that haulers include a provision for City billing versus hauler <br /> billing. With Republic Services, a slightly less than $17,000 savings would be passed through to residents if the <br /> billing was in-house. <br /> Staff has estimated that it would take approximately 60 hours of dedicated staff time to commence this billing <br /> processor approximately $2,100. Staff duties would increase with each sale of a home and arranging for <br /> services. However, staff currently receives a telephone call to cancel existing sewer/water services. <br /> Staff believes that in-house billing would streamline the delinquent utility/assessment process annually. <br /> COST AND SOURCE(S) OF FUNDING: <br /> General Fund with savings to residents. <br /> REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: <br /> Staff recommends in-house billing of these services.
