As short grass clippings filter to the
ground and naturally decompose, nutrients return to the soil and
support further turf growth by supplying part of the lawn's fertilizer
needs. This practice can save about one fertilizer application per
year.
Grass clippings increase the soil's organic matter content, along
with its ability to retain moisture and nutrients to resist erosion, and
to maintain cooler temperatures during the summer.

~ ransportationis
Minnesota's largest oil user:
Residential ...................... 6%
Agricultural .....................8%
IndustriaVCommercial ..... 11%
Transportation ................75%
(vehicles 66%)
(airplanes 9%)

........................

f ~ arying speed by only 5
,..../ mph can reduce your gas
mileage by as much as 1.3 miles
per gallon.

~ he United States currently
uses about 8,000 gallons
of oil every second.

......................

Y2 y keeping average
, 0- energy demand low, we
reduce the need for
new power plants or to use
older, less efficient power
plants.
