(Ie too.) low. with budget constraints <br />coupled with the need to provide a variety of benefits for a <br />variety of people. you cOle to the point where you believe people <br />need to work lith people to lake intelligent choices for the <br />city. <br /> <br />David YanBurkleo <br />Chief of Police <br /> <br />Let Ie iatroduce .,self. <br /> <br />What about the DeoDle? <br /> <br />Before loving to Centerville in 1981. .y wife Sanna, and I lived <br />in lorth linneapolis for about three years. We experienced lany <br />of the problels that see. to be associated with inner-city living <br />and decided to look "out in the country" for sOle relief. We <br />settled on Centllrville because it was close to the Cities and yet <br />had the rural flavor we wanted. Centerville has easy access. <br />nice lakes, open fields and .any other a.enities. We purchased <br />sOle property in Centerville in 1985 and built a slall hOle in <br />1981. <br /> <br />Although Centerville's population has grown considerably in the <br />last three to four years, I have absolutely no regrets locating <br />here. I have,foundlany good friends and neighbors and have .et <br />lany fellow citizens who have sililar,concerns and feelings about <br />the COllunity. <br /> <br />I was surprised to find so lany people involved with city <br />"things." Iy very first experience with the city was with <br />planning and zoning over setback requirelents. Iveryone on the <br />cOllittee was helpful and positive. Since then I have seen <br />tealS, cOllittees, task forces. business owners, volunteers. <br />local clubs. council persons. city elployees, police. fire <br />fighters, our young people, city consultants. scouts. . . . and <br />the list goes on. It's absolutely incredible the alount of <br />energy and cO'litlent that is geared for Centerville. It is <br />truly one of our lost valuable resources. <br /> <br />c <br /> <br />What's lext? <br /> <br />I decided to take an interest in city processes and applied for a <br />position on the Iconolic Developlent Task Force because it <br />appeared it would interesting and one could learn a lot. I did <br />learn that city politics lork very slowly in lany areas because <br />careful consideration of issues and individuals rights and <br /> <br />A lot of projects and decisions need to take place in <br />Centerville. Individual input and participation will decide the <br />future. Personally. I feel that the qualities of Centerville are <br />best developed. .aintained. and preserved by the citizens of <br />Centerville; 10 one else. People working with people ilplies <br />cOlprolise. You can't possibly please everybody. but lith a <br />little give and take a cO.lon good can be achieved. It's <br />ilportant to lake good cooperative decisions that pave the way <br />for the future. <br /> <br />Wh, cit, DOlitics? <br />
