CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br /> REQUEST FOR <br /> COUNCIL ACTIONe <br /> Agenda Item# Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: <br /> Finance August 22, 2018 <br /> TITLE OF ISSUE: <br /> Set Truth in Taxation Hearing Date <br /> BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: <br /> The Truth in Taxation law, M.S. 275.065, requires cities over 500 population to hold a regularly scheduled <br /> meeting at which the budget and levy will be discussed and the final levy determined. The hearings must be <br /> between November 25 and December 28 and be held after 6:00 PM, and the public must be allowed to speak. <br /> Administrator Statz and I agree that November 28 would be an ideal time to hold this hearing. The second <br /> meeting in December is likely to be canceled since it falls on December 26. That would push a lot of items onto <br /> the December 12 meeting.
