CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br /> REQUEST FOR <br /> COUNCIL ACTION J`' <br /> o <br /> Agenda Item# Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: <br /> Public Works/Building Inspections 8/22/2018 <br /> TITLE OF ISSUE: <br /> Truck Replacement Plan <br /> BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: <br /> Since 2014, the city has only purchased 2 of the 5 vehicles scheduled for replacement in the Capital <br /> Improvement Plan during that time frame(see attached). Staff requests Council action to make those belated <br /> purchases and to reengage in our previous policy to replace vehicles on a two year rotating basis. This provides <br /> the lowest operating cost possible and high resale value with 1 year manufacturer's warranty remaining at time <br /> of sale. This also eliminates extra operating expense for repairs and tires. Vehicles replaced in this program <br /> can cost the city less than $1,000 per year, net. Current action requested includes purchase of a2019, 3500 <br /> crew 4wd and a 2019, 1500 extended cab 4wd. Total cost for the two vehicles is about$55,000. Sale of 2005 <br /> Chevy with plow and 2002 Ranger would total $10,000-$14,000. Net cost for these vehicle replacements <br /> would, therefore, be in the neighborhood of$41,000-$45,000. <br /> COST AND SOURCE(S) OF FUNDING: <br /> Capital Improvement Fund-Net cost of$41,000 - $45,000.
