CITY OF CENTERVILLE REQUEST FOR COMMITTEE ACTION o; Agenda Item# Department: Requested Meeting Date: Parks 9/5/18 TITLE OF ISSUE: Acorn Creek Parking and Trail Layout BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: With the approval by the City Council of a Preliminary Plat for a residential development to the north of the Revoir Street neighborhood, it may be an opportunity to pursue the addition of parking at Acorn Creek Park. The development will remove the cul-de-sac at the end of Revoir Street and will feature a bituminous trail leading to the park. At a minimum, we will need to decide how that trail connects into our trail and sidewalk system at Acorn Creek park, but given the disruption the cul-de-sac removal and trail construction will cause, it seems that if parking is to be provided here, it should be constructed at the same time. Attached is a sketch of how parking and trails could be laid out. Staff has shown 5 parking spaces, simply based on what we provide at other similar parks in town. The committee could discuss: a) should parking be provided, b) how many spaces, c) does the proposed layout look acceptable for both the parking and trail? COST AND SOURCE(S) OF FUNDING: Park Dedication Fund: +/-$12,000 Pkg Lot; Trail - Cost to city, if any, to be negotiated with Developer's Agmt REQUESTED ACTION: Motion to recommend addition of parking lot at Acorn Creek Park to be constructed in conjunction with the Old Mill Estates Development. Motion to recommend trail extension layout as presented.
